The Principal Pillars of Faith

Updated: Feb 14, 2020

1. JESUS CHRIST IS FOREVER THE SAME.

He.13: 8

“Now unto the King eternal, immortal, invisible, the only wise God, be honour and glory forever and ever. Amen.”

1 Timothy 1:17

“But thou art the same, and thy years shall have no end.”

Psalms 102:27

“For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even His eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse:” Romans 1:20

God is eternal and He gives Eternal life to all who believe.

“That as sin hath reigned unto death, even so, might grace reign through righteousness unto eternal life by Jesus Christ our Lord.” Romans 5:21

He changes not.

“Jesus Christ the same yesterday, today, and forever.” Hebrews 13:8

Please notice it does not say the Father or the Holy Spirit, although the same is true for all members of the Holy Trinity.

However, it was deemed important to clarify that Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today and forever. Jesus Christ has always been a member of the Trinity. To help us understand He was also called Emmanuel (God with us).

Our Heavenly Father knows our weakness, the flesh.

Yet every believer glories in the fact that the Son of God was made flesh and dwelt among us. John 1: 14

I also love Him because He was willing to do so, kinda like putting on the striped uniform and going in the prison to save the captive. And no, he will not be wearing it in heaven. He did not come to change himself but to transform us into His precious image.

We shall see Him because we shall be like Him. Not the other way around.

John 4

²³ But the hour cometh, and now is, when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth: for the Father seeketh such to worship him.

²⁴ God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth.

“Now this I say, brethren, that flesh, and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God; neither doth corruption inherit incorruption.” 1 Corinthians 15:50

Lord help us to disdain the flesh but cherish and worship you in Spirit and truth.

2. GOD IS NOT WILLING THAT ANY SHOULD PERISH.

“The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.”

Peter 3:9

“For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” John 3:1 6

The promise gave the hope of Eternal life to all mankind.

“In hope of eternal life, which God, that cannot lie, promised before the world began;” Titus 1:2

His promise was given before the world

began, because He is not willing that any should perish, everybody in all generations receives an opportunity.

So loved the world" includes all mankind for all generations, whosoever believeth, means just that, any man from any generation, tribe, tongue or nation. Should not perish because provision was made before the foundations of the earth for all mankind.

“And God said, This is the token of the covenant which I make between me and you and every living creature that is with you, for perpetual generations:” Genesis 9:12

Psalms 105

⁷ He is the LORD our God: his judgments are in all the earth.

⁸ He hath remembered his covenant forever, the word which he commanded to a thousand generations.

1 Peter 1

¹⁸ Forasmuch as ye know that ye were not redeemed with corruptible things, as silver and gold, from your vain conversation received by tradition from your fathers;

¹⁹ But with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot:

²⁰ Who verily was foreordained before the foundation of the world, but was manifest in these last times for you,

Christ Jesus gave Himself freely unto death for us before the foundation of the world. Rev.13: 8

“Declaring the end from the beginning, and from ancient times the things that are not yet done, saying, My counsel shall stand, and I will do all my pleasure:”

Isaiah 46:10

Our Lord God is declaring He will do all His good pleasure. Therefore we can rest assured it will be accomplished. He is not willing that any should perish. Our Saviour has always been a Saviour He changes not. Our God established a way for all men

to have an opportunity of His glorious plan

of salvation.

The work of the Lord was finished from the foundation of the world.

"For we which have believed do enter into rest, as he said, As I have sworn in my wrath if they shall enter into my rest: although the works were finished from the foundation of the world.” Hebrews 4:3

So loved the world" includes all mankind for all generations, whosoever believeth, means just that, any man from any generation, tribe, tongue or nation. Should not perish because provision was made before the foundations of the earth for all mankind.

Because God is not willing that any should perish.

There has never been a grace age or a time period for the law of God. Grace is always given to those who believe for example Moses, and Noah.

“But Noah found grace in the eyes of the LORD.”

Genesis 6:8

Ephesians 2

⁷ That in the ages to come he might shew the exceeding riches of his grace in his kindness toward us through Christ Jesus.

8 “For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:”

¹⁰ For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.

Ex.33

"And Moses said unto the LORD, See, thou sayest unto me, Bring up this people: and thou hast not let me know whom thou wilt send with me. Yet thou hast said, I know thee by name, and thou hast also found grace in my sight.

¹³ Now, therefore, I pray thee, if I have found grace in thy sight, shew me now thy way,( now read John 14:6)

that I may know thee, that I may find grace in thy sight: and consider that this nation is thy people."

No one has ever been saved by the keeping of the law.

The law was given to the lawless grace has been there for those who believe.

“Knowing this, that the law is not made for a righteous man, but for the lawless and disobedient, for the ungodly and for sinners, for the unholy and profane, for murderers of fathers and murderers of mothers, for manslayers,” 1 Timothy 1:9

Moses gave the law knowing they could not be saved by it but they could learn the fear of God, the beginning of wisdom.

Galatians 3

²⁴ Wherefore the law was our schoolmaster to bring us unto Christ, that we might be justified by faith.

²⁵ But after that faith is come, we are no longer under a schoolmaster.

²⁶ For ye are all the children of God by faith in Christ Jesus.

Some ask how could people be saved before Christ? When was that? He is Eternal God. The Word (Christ) was made flesh. But the Word of God has always existed and has done mighty things, especially for those who believe (except what he says is the truth) Him.

3. THE WORD OF GOD IS INFALLIBLE (unable to make a mistake or do something wrong). John 1: 1

John 1

¹ In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.

² The same was in the beginning with God.

³ All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made.

⁴ In him was life; and the life was the light of men.

The Word is a member of the trinity, thus infallible. Perfect, Holy, Truth, Omnipotent (He spoke the creation into existence), everything that God is. Therefore sinful men should consider in believing and obeying Him. He has given all men this choice, to believe or not to believe.

2 Timothy 3

¹⁶ All scriptu+re is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:

¹⁷ That the man of God may be perfect, thoroughly furnished unto all good works.

The Word (Christ) or the living Word, who cannot lie gave the written word by inspiration. Therefore it is Holy

and all mankind may benefit from it or be judged by it.

Jesus Christ the Word, is the one who died for all men.

The same is appointed to judge all men on the day of judgment.

“For the Father judgeth no man, but hath committed all judgment unto the Son:” John 5:22

“It is the spirit that quickeneth ( brings to life); the flesh profiteth nothing: the words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life.” John 6:63

The same is true for prophecy as well.

“For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man: but holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost.” 2 Peter 1:21

“For I testify unto every man that heareth the words of the prophecy of this book If any man shall add unto these things, God shall add unto him the plagues that are written in this book:” Revelation 22:18

“And if any man shall take away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God shall take away his part out of the book of life, and out of the holy city, and from the things which are written in this book.” Rev.22: 19

4. GOD IS LOVE.

The three pillars that we have looked at are.

JESUS CHRIST THE SAME YESTERDAY TODAY AND FOREVER. heb.13: 8

GOD IS NOT WILLING THAT ANY SHOULD PERISH. 2 pet.3: 9

THE WORD OF GOD IS INFALLIBLE. John 1:1

And the forth is....

GOD IS LOVE. John 4: 16

“And we have known and believed the love that God hath to us. God is love, and he that dwelleth in love dwelleth in God, and God in him.” 1 John 4: 16

God doesn't just have love He is love, what you possess, you may lose. God is Love, and He changes not

He has always been Love and will always be.

First, we came to understand that Jesus Christ never changes He is always the same. For this quality, He is called the Rock. He that dwelleth in love dwelleth in God.

He does not fall in and out of love. Like a rock, love is always there. Love endures all things. 1 Cor. 13: 7

“Love worketh no ill to his neighbor: therefore love is the fulfilling of the law.” Romans 13:10

“But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.” Romans 5:8

Deuteronomy 30

¹⁴ But the word is very nigh unto thee, in thy mouth, and in thy heart, that thou mayest do it.

¹⁵ See, I have set before thee this day life and good, and death and evil;

¹⁹ I call heaven and earth to record this day against you, that I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing: therefore choose life, that both thou and thy seed may live.

“According as he hath chosen us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before him in love:” Ef. 1: 4

Our choice is easy because He first loved us now we can love Him.

“For in Jesus Christ neither circumcision availeth anything nor uncircumcision; but faith which worketh by love.” Galatians 5:6

“That Christ may dwell in your hearts by faith; that ye, being rooted and grounded in love,” Ephesians 3:17

“But when that which is perfect is come, then that which is in part shall be done away.” 1 Corinthians 13:10

Love is perfect because God is perfect.

The principal pillar of our FAITH is LOVE.

Love is the motivator that brings faith into action.

Faith that is not inaction is not faith at all.
