Sitting in the pew or carrying the bible under the arm
doesn't bring the necessary maturity desired by our Lord.
Being in the right church and reading the bible is a great start but it isn't enough.
Hearing good teaching, of course, is also very important but I meet quite a few people who are receiving teaching read their bibles but are lacking in the joy of the Lord and confess they are not where they need to be.
The sin that has almost crippled the Church of America is APATHY.
In our country, most things come too easy. Many of the believers today are too mindful of their comfort instead of being aware of their lack of Christian zeal. They seem to have forgotten the greatest commandment of all which is to love the Lord your God with all your heart, mind and soul.
I reading confess my own need for spiritual growth and understanding like Paul said. “Not as though I had already attained, either were already perfect: but I follow after, if that I may apprehend that for which also I am apprehended of Christ Jesus. Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before, I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus”. Ph.3 : 12-14
In order to press toward a mark, there needs to be a desire to reach that goal. Even as some read this they are thinking here we go again, I don't need anything I am comfortable where I am. I pray you will see that's the problem that's plaguing the believers of our day.
If you want to grow, forget the past, set a goal, work toward it, forsake apathy.
